Rao Heidmets Retrospective
What happens when the Maker loses control over his creation and it starts to obey its own
will? Highly recommended for close inspection to everyone involved in cloning, AI creation and otherwise witty people.
Presidents, kings and shamans bear responsibility for the welfare of their people. A wise leader of the people manages to keep his culture untouched for a long time but even he is powerless against genetic transfer. Cultures mix, blood mixes and rootless generations are born lacking identity and a proper sense of where their home is. The people no longer live in harmony with nature and this seals their fate.
A totalitarian society destroys itself, sooner or later the people cannot take it anymore and then, over papa Carlos a path to the doors of freedom is laid.
We can see the media playing a continuously greater role in the arrangement of social life. How can we get more precise results from our surveys? How can the big and biggest companies change to meet the requirements of vast consumers? The result of all this is a vulgar and rude “modern” world.
Balancing on the borderline of the real and the unreal, the film strives to express the monotony of this world, its illusory character, and emphasizes the lack of spirituality in the life based on everyday routine. The layer of culture in humans is thin as a wallpaper separating us from the decaying civilization.
The newly born butterfly Bruno flies into the wide world to look for something better, not realizing that he was born in the best place ever. A vicious bush is drawing Bruno like a magnet. And just before landing on a leaf, Bruno is eaten up. Only the wings remain, falling from the leaves. Through a mist, they are taken to another world.
Human being is the slave of his imagination. Finding the way out of it is a long and complicated journey and it requires a good memory.
