TO GAZA, WITH LOVE: A Global Anijam invited animators and artists from around the world to create short 10-30 second animated messages of love and support to the Palestinian people. These animated sequences/films were then collected and uploaded to an interactive global map to highlight pockets of support for Gaza from around the world. Final animations are showcased on an online interactive map, indicating the location of support. One selected film will be shown before each festival screening. Free Palestine!
To Gaza, With Love: A Global Anijam is an initiative of the Animation Community for Palestine (AC4PAL), a volunteer collective of artists, animators, educators, festival directors, and curators from around the world. We are inspired by the incredible work of Haneen Koraz and her team in Gaza, who teach children to turn their stories into beautiful stop-motion animations. Their films are visionary and optimistic and offer a beacon of hope in the face of such devastation. Support AC4PAL!

Animation is a powerful medium but it takes so long to make. Its lengthy creation process makes it less than ideal as a political medium in times of urgency. However, watching all the little clips submitted to this project convinced me that the act of making animation is as important as the final product. Making animations can be an act of wish-making, praying and manifesting for peace. I am glad the community of animators took a stand and we stand tall together.

Cvetlice Palestine / Flowers of Palestine

In this fleeting dream, there are no bombs, no fear – only the wide sky, the endless sea, and the simple joy of flying a kite. A message of hope for the children of Gaza: a vision of peace, freedom and a childhood reclaimed.

Czechia, 0’34”
“Memory – ةركاذ“ , a poem by Nour Ahmad, is a collage of the past and present Palestinian land and people. Grief and pain but also joy and love, vibrant culture, beauty and its destruction. All of that is part of the memory that Palestine has drawn in our hearts over the past year.

Svetloba iz niča / Light from Nothing
made by displaced children between the ages of 10-13 from Deir al-Balah
This film is about a child living in a tent whose candle blows out in a gust of wind. He doesn’t like the dark, so he tries to think what to do. He puts a potato in an empty can and connects a wire. There is a spark, but it quickly goes out.
Then he has a better plan. He gets a bicycle and connects the wire to the light. He starts to pedal fast and finally the tent lights up. He is happy! Gazan kids are ingenious!
